Sono una blogger viziata. Se vado in giro, mi piace dormire in hotel o B&B di design, passo ore online a cercare il posto giusto finché non vengo letteralmente folgorata da qualche immagine. È andata così anche stavolta, ma non potevo immaginare la sensazione di entrare in camera e avere il Danubio ai miei piedi.
Una sensazione che non riesco a spiegare a parole! Dopo 7 ore di auto arrivare qui, in una Budapest sconosciuta e ancora da esplorare, aprire la tenda… e sbaaam. Spettacolo! Mi sono buttata sul letto incredula.

Ho aperto la tenda e fatto la prima foto al panorama. Il ponte delle Catene davanti a noi, il viale alberato, sedie di design, il catalogo dei Design Hotels (rete internazionale di boutique hotel in cui il Lanchid19 è stato il primo hotel ungherese ad entrare)… per un attimo mi sono dimenticata perfino di aprire la porta del bagno, che in genere è la prima cosa che guardo 😀

Lanchid 19: un boutique hotel con vista (e che vista)!
Lo so, sarebbe stato tutto perfetto anche in un b&b qualunque… ma vuoi mettere. Il Lanchid 19 è stato progettato da un team di professionisti (architetti, creativi, designer) tutto ungherese, e rappresenta per questo motivo un orgoglio nazionale. Anche perché, oltre ad aver vinto prestigiosi premi nazionali, è stato il primo hotel ungherese ad essere premiato agli European Hotel Design Awards (categoria Best Architecture/Newbuilt) nel 2008, ed è entrato nella classifica del Sunday Times (Top 100 European Hotels list) nel 2010.
Quando mi sono ripresa e mi sono resa conto che ancora non avevo visto la cosa più importante sono andata ad aprire la porta scorrevole e si è sentito un urlo:
“oddio che doccia enormeeeee!”
In genere io mi porto tutto, dal bagnoschiuma alle cose inutili, però stavolta non è servito niente perché c’erano perfino i dischetti per struccarsi, e le signorine qui mi capiranno (perché fatalità, li avevo dimenticati!). Era praticamente come essere a casa.
Solo che stavolta sdraiata sul letto vedevo il Danubio in tutta la sua magnificenza! 😀
I design addicted avranno sicuramente notato le sedute famose presenti in questo boutique hotel, per lo più made in Italy (uno dei principali fornitori è proprio l’italianissimo Moroso). Ebbene, l’intero concept dell’hotel ruota attorno proprio alle sedie diventate icone del design, la cui storia viene rappresentata sulla testiera del letto di ogni camera, ciascuna differente dall’altra.

Prima di partire mi domando sempre se avrò fatto la scelta giusta, e l’ultima foto qui sotto vi farà capire che non dovevo avere alcun dubbio! Vedete il palazzo con i vetri colorati, in basso (il secondo da sinistra)? Quello è il Lanchid19, ai piedi della collina del Castello di Buda.
In un luogo incantevole, perfetto per visitare sia Buda che Pest. Ogni sera, dopo aver camminato per tutto il giorno senza sosta, attraversavamo il ponte delle Catene con questa vista spettacolare davanti. Ma perché abbiamo aspettato così tanto a visitare Budapest?!

The first weekend of June I’ve spent a few days in Budapest, as I told you in this post. I stayed at Lanchid 19, a charming boutique hotel, member of Design Hotels net, with a stunning view on the Danube and the Buda Caste Hill (both UNESCO World Heritages).
As we arrived in Budapest, after 7 hours driving, we could not believe what we had in front of our eyes: an enchanting view on the Danube took our breath away. No words to describe that first feeling! I even forgot to have a look to the bathroom, usually the first thing I think of!
The Bathroom | As I opened the door I started screaming “wooooow what a big showeeeer!”, just to let you understand my first sensation :-D, but what amazed me was the attention to details; for example, they even offer you make-up removal disks! Women reading will understand the importance of these little (big) things.
Interior Design | Lanchid19 has been designed by a team of hungarian young professionals (architects, creatives, designers) and is inspired by iconic modern chairs, whose story is displayed on the rooms’ walls. Many of them are made in Italy products (I’ve recognized the ones by Moroso).
“Some of the rooms invite for a creative play, thus guests have a weekly wardrobe to dress an Erwan&Ronan Bouroullec chair, a George G. Sowden chair to watch a movie with, Philippe Starck’s Louis & Victoria Ghost to have a dance lesson with. Guests may also find themselves in a wedding ceremony, where a white Panton chair is the bride.” [source: Lanchid19]
The hotel received two Hungarian Design Awards (for the façade and the visuals of the hotel) and a Budapest Architectural Prize in 2007 and Pro Architecture Prize in 2008, before being awarded at The European Hotel Design Awards for the ‘BEST ARCITECTURE – Newbuild’ category (2008).
Location | The hotel is located on the Buda side of the Danube, under the Buda Castle Hill, near the Lanchid Bridge. Absolutely perfect to visit each side of the city, to reach the hills on the Buda side and the Pest side on the right. A great choice, I admit 😉 Second time that I choose a Design Hotel (here’s the first), second time that I remain enthusiastic!!
